LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team saw its 2025 Sun Belt Conference Tournament run come to a heartbreaking end, falling to No. 18 Kentucky 6-5 in a penalty shootout.

• With the result, the Chanticleers conclude the season with a 3-9-2 overall record.
• Loed Klaasen forced the first save of the match in the ninth minute, but Sun Belt Goalkeeper of the Year Sebastian Conlon denied the effort to keep the game scoreless.
• The Chants were saved by the woodwork in the 23rd minute when Kentucky's Agustin Lopez hit the inside of the post.
• Coastal's Angel Lopez appeared to give the Chants the lead in the 35th minute, but the goal was waved off for a handball on his control inside the box.
• With three minutes left in the first half, Kentucky's Josh Gordon found the net, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
• At halftime, the Wildcats led 6-3 in shots and 2-1 in corner kicks.
• Each team managed just one shot on goal in the second half but neither side could break through, sending the match into overtime.
• At the end of regulation, Kentucky held a 12-6 advantage in shots, with Klaasen leading the Coastal attack with four attempts.
• Goalkeeper Harrison Gough made a close-range reaction save off a deflected shot in the 17th minute of extra time to preserve the 0-0 draw and force a penalty shootout.
• Kentucky shot first in the shootout and ultimately edged Coastal 6-5 to advance.
