CONWAY, S.C. — Coastal Carolina lacrosse trailed by one with just over nine minutes remaining but couldn't get the offense going and fell, 12-7, to Davidson in nonconference action at Brooks Stadium on Sunday.
Davidson (1-1) had the final four goals of the game and held Coastal (1-2) without a score over the final 9:34. DC's Riley Cochrane scored three goals in a span of 2:58 and Jacqueline Callahan had the final tally with 14 ticks on the clock to seal the win for the Wildcats.
The Chanticleers had knotted things at five goals apiece with 11:56 left in the third thanks to a smart effort from
Teagan Van Stone who had her first career goal.
The two squads played an even match with Coastal holding the biggest edge in ground balls, 13-9, and turnovers with Davidson giving up 14 to Coastal's nine.
Alyson Mascolo and
Sydney McClure finished with two goals apiece with Mascolo adding six draw controls and McClure dishing an assist.
Evelyn Kitchin had a goal with four draw controls and
Sophie Kingsborough also had a score.
Charlotte Sadler made seven saves in the loss.
