CONWAY, S.C. — Gabrielle Beaudet's free-position goal in overtime lifted Coastal Carolina to a dramatic 15-14 victory over ECU on Saturday at Brooks Stadium.
 
Beaudet's game-winner came with 33 seconds remaining in the first extra period after ECU (1-2) had forced overtime with a goal in the final 10 seconds of regulation. The Chanticleers (4-2) turned up the defensive pressure in extra time, forcing the Pirates into a possession clock violation after ECU took the first draw. With a minute left, Coastal cleared the zone, ran its offense and capitalized on the opportunity to secure its fourth win of the season.
 
Sydney McClure paced Coastal Carolina with five goals and an assist, while 
Alyson Mascolo netted a hat trick. 
Brigid Cardillo was instrumental in the attack, contributing two goals and four assists. The Chanticleers matched ECU in shots with 29 apiece and held a 14-12 edge in ground balls.
 
ECU's Riley Matthiesen and Erin Gulden each scored three goals, with Rachel Chessock adding a pair, including the game-tying goal in the final seconds of regulation.
 
Goalkeeper 
Kylie Pastor earned the win for Coastal Carolina, playing the final stretch and making one crucial save. 
Charlotte Sadler started the game and stopped eight shots.
 
Coastal built an early lead with a 6-2 first-quarter advantage, but ECU fought back, tying the contest at 12-12 in the fourth. McClure and Mascolo each scored in the final five minutes to push the Chants ahead 14-12 before ECU's late surge sent the game into overtime.
