STATESBORO, Ga. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team defeated Georgia Southern 4-1 in Statesboro, Ga., on Friday morning, improving to 3-0 in Sun Belt Conference play.
- After winning on court one and falling in the No. 3 spot, the pairing of Brunelle Kouam and Aida Mitrache clinched the doubles point for the Chanticleers with a 7-5 victory on court two.
- The Eagles evened the score at 1-1 with a singles win on court six. However, Katya Hersh and Anna Babayan responded with straight-set victories on courts six and one, respectively, to give Coastal a 3-1 lead.
- Freshman Brunelle Kouam then secured the match, rallying from a set down to defeat Mackenzie Leopold 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, extending her singles win streak to eight matches.
- The Chanticleers will return to action on March 18 against Elon at the Stevens Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
