Women’s Basketball Signs Wisconsin Transfer Tessa Grady

Coastal Carolina women's basketball head coach Kevin Pederson has announced the signing of Wisconsin transfer Tessa Grady for the 2025-2026 season.

"Our staff is excited to announce the addition of Tessa Grady, a transfer guard from the University of Wisconsin," Pederson said. "We love to shoot 3's in our program, and Tessa is a sharp shooting guard with a skill set that we believe will make her a dangerous player in our offensive system. She also provides great length and athleticism that makes her a perfect fit for Coastal Chaos. Tessa felt like a natural fit from the moment we started talking.  Her hard-working mindset and desire to take our program to the next level is exactly what we are looking for at Coastal Carolina!"

Grady, a 6-2 forward who enters the program as a junior, played her first two seasons at Wisconsin. Last season, Grady played five games for the Badgers while scoring nine points, going 3-5 from beyond the three-point line.

As a freshman, Grady averaged 9.4 minutes per game coming off the bench while scoring 3.6 points per game, with a career-high 15 points coming against Northwestern on Jan. 10 and Minnesota on Jan. 23. Grady drained 24 three pointers and a career-high five against Minnesota on Jan. 23. She ranked second on the team in three-point percentage, shooting 34.3% (24-70) while collecting 1.2 rebounds per game, with a career-high five coming against Northwestern on Feb. 24. Grady was awarded Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honors on Jan. 29 after her five threes and 15 points against Minnesota, which tied her for first in program history in three-pointers made in a single game by a freshman.

Before arriving at Wisconsin, Grady was an ESPN 3-star recruit and ranked 188th nationally. The forward was the No. 6 ranked overall prospect in Ohio and No. 1 ranked shooting guard in Ohio by Prep Girls Hoops. Grady was a four-time all-conference selection at Dublin Coffman High School with over 1,000 points scored in her career. Her other accolades include: OHSAA third team Division II, second team all-district, first team all-OCC as a senior, Conference Player of the Year, OHSAA second team Division II and first team all-district as a junior, 2021 Aqua Platinum Run 4 Roses champions and all-tournament team for her club team SMAC.
