NEW ORLEANS — Coastal Carolina softball student-athlete Nicolette Picone has been named a recipient of the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate Scholarship, the league announced Wednesday.
Picone played a pivotal role in the Chanticleers' historic run to their first-ever Sun Belt Conference Tournament title, pitching every inning during the tournament. The senior will graduate as one of the top pitchers in program history, ranking first in career saves (19), fifth in appearances (137), tied for sixth in wins (52), ninth in strikeouts (364), and 10th in innings pitched (512.0).
Off the field, Picone has excelled academically, maintaining a 4.0 cumulative GPA over her four-year career while being named a three-time CSC Academic All-District honoree and a three-time NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete.
"Throughout my journey at Coastal, my coaches have given me the time and resources to excel both academically and within my sport," said Picone. "I am beyond grateful to have received the Sun Belt Postgraduate Scholarship so I am able to continue my academic journey at the next level."
The scholarships are awarded to selected student-athletes with stated intentions to pursue a graduate degree following the completion of their undergraduate requirements and are sent directly to the graduate school of each recipient's choice. The recipients were selected by the Sun Belt Postgraduate Scholarship Committee, which is comprised of Faculty Athletic Representatives from across the conference.
