Men’s Tennis Adds Two to Coaching Staff

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina men's tennis head coach Chris Powers has announced the addition of two new members to the Chanticleers' coaching staff for the 2025 season.

Former Chant Emiliano Gonzalez Balmaceda joins the program as a graduate assistant, while Nachi Datar will serve as a volunteer assistant coach.

Gonzalez Balmaceda played a key role in Coastal's lineup during the 2024–25 campaign, compiling a 9–8 singles record and a 10–8 doubles mark, while earning Sun Belt Player of the Week honors on March 19. Before arriving in Conway, he spent he spent two seasons at Illinois State and two at the University of Delaware, posting a combined 32–22 record in singles and 25–28 mark in doubles.

Datar ranked among the top tennis players in both India and Canada, and initially pursued a collegiate playing career before a series of injuries derailed his plans. After stepping away from the game during medical school, Datar returned to sport and has served as a volunteer coach in New York and at Saint Louis University.
