JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Coastal Carolina senior Max Bengtsson shot 5-under-par to win the 2026 Jacksonville Area Golf Association (JAGA) First Coast Amateur at Deerwood Country Club on Monday. He finished five strokes ahead of USF freshman Roman Soloman.

Bengtsson posted a three-day total of 211 (68-74-69). He was tied atop the leaderboard after Saturday's opening round before slipping one stroke back on Sunday. On Monday, he birdied three of the first seven holes and moved back into first place at the turn. Bengtsson was 4-under through 11 holes, but a bogey on No. 12 dropped him to 3-under. He parred the final six holes to secure the victory.

"Max came back from winter break with a higher level of focus," Chanticleers head coach Jacob Wilner said. "He has one semester left in his college career before he heads to the professional ranks. This win shows what he's capable of."

Coastal Carolina freshman Harrison James also competed in the tournament and finished 12th at 6-over (222). Fellow freshman Lucas Arntsen tied for 20th at 9-over (225), while junior Jack Lee finished one stroke behind Arntsen, tying for 25th at 10-over (226). Senior Owen Kim placed 57th in the 95-player field at 18-over (234).

"Getting competitive rounds in as individuals now will help us early in the spring," Wilner said. "We're excited to get started in February."

The Chanticleers open the 2026 spring season Feb. 2-3 at the Battle at Briar's Creek on John's Island.
