NEW ORLEANS — Coastal Carolina softball shortstop
Brie Normandin was named Sun Belt Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Tuesday afternoon.
Normandin had a standout week for the Chants, posting a .571 batting average and driving in six RBIs. The junior came up clutch in Coastal's upset win over No. 15 Arizona, bringing in three runs. She went 3-for-4 at the plate in CCU's 14-13 win over Drake, crushing two RBI singles, and continued to produce against some of the strongest pitching in the nation, going 2-for-2 in game two versus No. 15 Arizona.
Defensively, the shortstop recorded 20 assists and 10 putouts, securing key outs in crucial moments. She capped off the week with a 2-for-2 performance against Utah Valley, adding an RBI single. Overall, Normandin tallied four multi-hit games and two multi-RBI games over the course of the week.
The Chants are set to face No. 23 Clemson, Lipscomb and Baylor at the Clemson Classic from Feb. 20-22.
