TUCSON, Ariz. — The Coastal Carolina softball team toppled Utah Valley 11-3 on day three of the Bear Down Fiesta to conclude the weekend with a 4-1 record.
The Chants started with a bang, tallying five runs in the bottom of the first inning on a
Kaelin Cash sacrifice fly, a
Brie Normandin single, and a three-run home run by
Hannah Bendle.
Utah Valley tacked one run on in the top of the second inning on a sacrifice fly to make the score 5-1.
Georgia Hood extended her home run hitting streak to three games in the bottom of the second inning, driving in two runs to push the lead to 7-1.
In the top of the third inning, Utah Valley narrowed the gap to 7-3 on back-to-back RBI singles from Bailey Marvin and Angelique Mann.
Coastal wrapped up the run-rule victory in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs on a fielder's choice, a walk and a sacrifice fly to secure the 11-3 win.
The Chants will remain on the road to face Clemson, Lipscomb and Baylor in the Clemson Classic from Feb. 20-22.
