CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's golf team will welcome some of the nation's top teams to the inaugural Michael A. Marino Classic, Sunday–Tuesday, March 15–17, at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Previously known as the General James Hackler Championship, the three-day event has been adjusted due to expected weather conditions. Teams will play 27 holes on Sunday, beginning with the opening round before continuing into the first nine holes of round two. If conditions allow, the remaining nine holes of the second round will be completed Monday, with the final round scheduled for Tuesday.
This marks the 12th consecutive season The Dunes Golf & Beach Club has hosted the Chanticleers' spring tournament. The Dunes Golf & Beach Club will play as a par 72 at 7,269 yards.
The tournament features a field of 16 teams, 11 of which are ranked in the Scoreboard powered by Clippd Top 100, including four inside the top 50: No. 33 Louisville, No. 37 UNLV, No. 47 Little Rock and No. 50 Florida Gulf Coast. Also competing alongside the host Chanticleers are Baylor, College of Charleston, Furman, Kansas State, Kent State, Liberty, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, NC State and North Florida.
Coastal Carolina will field a lineup of Jack Lee, Max Bengtsson, Drew Sykes, Harrison James and Lucas Arntsen. Santiago Schele, Coleman Ferguson and Owen Kim will compete as individuals.
Bengtsson shot 8-under-par 208 at the course last season, while Sykes carded a 2-over 218.
