CCU posted its first winning season in four years and finished tied for second-place in the Sun Belt.

A RETURN TO WINNING

  • The Chanticleers were one of the nation's most improved teams, winning nine more games this season  (19) from a year ago. They recorded their first winning season since 2021-22.
  • Coastal won a program record 11 Sun Belt Conference game and recorded its highest finish in the conference, second, since joining the league in 2016-17. It also won a program record seven SBC road games.
  • CCU collected 19 wins during the regular season, its most before entering postseason play since 2014-15.
  • The Chanticleers tied the school record for most true road wins, 10; tops in the Sun Belt.
  • Coastal played 20 games decided by six points or less and won 14.
  • CCU matched the program record for longest SBC winning streak, five, and recorded a pair of four-game road winning streaks.

INSIDE THE SUN BELT RACE

  • Coastal went 10-3 over its final 13 Sun Belt Conference games to finish tied for second place with an 11-7 conference mark.
  • The Chanticleers 11 league victories were nearly as many as the previous three years combined (13).
  • CCU won five straight SBC games in January and ended the regular season on a three-game conference winning streak.
  • Coastal earned its first-ever win over James Madison in the regular season finale.
  • The Chants swept the season series from Marshall for the first time after posting its first-ever road victory over the Thundering Herd.
  • Coastal went 7-2 on the road in conference play, setting the program record for most SBC road victories. It ended the season on a four-game conference road winning streak.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT

The 2025-26 roster included nine players who donned teal for the first time. Joshua Beadle, AJ Dancler, Reggie Hill, and Nadjrick Peat all had a significant impact from the start and were major contributors to the Chanticleers' success.

  • Beadle was a first-team all-conference selection and was voted Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year. He led Coastal in scoring with 17.5 points per game, scoring double figures in 26 games with 13 20-point performances and a pair of 30-point games.
  • Dancler was the Chanticleers' best outside shooter, connecting on 39.0 percent of his 3-point attempts, while averaging 2.5 made 3s per game. He led the team with 79 made 3s, making six in a game three times. Dancler posted three 30-point performances.
  • Hill started the final 30 games of the season and averaged a team-high 5.8 rebounds per game. He ranked fourth on the team in points per game, 3-point percentage and steals.
  • Peat became the fourth player in program history to collect over 50 blocks in a season, finishing with 54. In his final home game, Peat set the school record for most blocked shots with seven against Marshall, nearly recording the first triple-double in school history. He ranked third in the SBC in total blocks and blocked shots per game (1.7).

 

Additional newcomers such DaJohn Craig, Derrick Green, Jerry Ngopot, and Tristan Thompson provided valuable minutes and versatility as the Chanticleers continued to develop throughout the season.

DEFINING MOMENTS

The 2025-26 season was defined by key performances, momentum-shifting victories, and historic individual efforts that shaped Coastal Carolina’s rise.

  • The Chanticleers got out to a modest 6-4 start highlighted a by a season series sweep of instate rival Winthrop for the first time since 2011.
  • Coastal closed out the fall semester with back-to-back road wins st Old Dominion and St. Joe's and went into the Christmas break two games over .500. The Chants rallied from a 10-point deficit at St. Joe's, its first of three double-digit deficits overcome during the season.
  • CCU rallied from a 13-point deficit at home against App State for a five-point victory that ignited a five-game winning streak. The Chants followed with back-to-back road wins at Marshall and Georgia Southern and consecutive home victories over Texas State and Southern Miss.
  • Derrick Green's putback with one second left in regulation forced overtime at Georgia Southern, where the Chants won for the first time in three years behind Rasheed Jones' 28 points.
  • AJ Dancler made six 3s and scored a career-high 32 to help Coastal withstand an upset bid from winless ULM to start the month of the February.
  • Beadle sank the game-winning 3 with 1.4 seconds left in triple overtime to lift the Chants over UMass, 94-91, after trailing by nine with 7:38 to play. Dancler forced the third overtime with an off-balance 3 at the buzzer. Beadle, Dancler and Jones each scored over 20 points in the game.
  • After getting its first-ever road win at Louisiana, Coastal returned home to complete the sweep of Marshall behind Jones' 29 points and Nadjrick Peat's near triple-double that included a CCU record seven blocked shots.
  • Beadle scored 29 points and knocked down the game-winning jumper with 0.9 seconds left as Coastal Carolina earned its first-ever win over James Madison, 69-68, in the regular season finale.

TOP PERFORMANCES

  • Joshua Beadle scored a career-high 32 points in the win over Texas State on 11 of 19 shooting from the field and 10 of 12 at the free throw line. Beadle also scored 31 at home against James Madison
  • AJ Dancler went for 32 points in a pair of game, first at ULM and then at Georgia State. He knocked down six 3s against ULM as well as versus North Dakota and UMass. Dancler dropped 31 on North Dakota.
  • Rasheed Jones sank 7 of 10 3s against Southern Miss on his way to 24 points. He went for 28 points in the overtime win at Georgia Southern and then scored a career-high 29 in the home finale against Marshall.
  • Nadjrick Peat blocked seven shots in his finale home game against Marshall, setting a school single-game record. He nearly recorded a triple-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. His top rebounding performance of the year was 15 against Georgia Southern on New Year's Day. Reggie Hill  (vs. UMass) and Braeden MacVicar (vs. VUL) also posted a 13-rebound game. Hill led the Chants with three double-digit rebounding performances.
  • Coastal sank a school-record 17 3s in the home opener against Virginia University of Lynchburg. Ngopot and Thompson made three each, while five other players made two.
