CONWAY, S.C. – No. 15 Coastal Carolina rallied from an early four-run deficit and used a late offensive surge to defeat Marshall 12–4 on Saturday.
After falling behind 4-0, the Chanticleers answered with four unanswered runs to even the score and settle into a back-and-forth battle heading into the later innings.
The game remained tied until the seventh inning when Blake Barthol put Coastal in front for good, driving in a run on a groundout to give the Chants a 5-4 lead.
Coastal added to its advantage in the eighth inning as Brice Estep delivered a two-run home run to extend the lead to 6-4.
The Chanticleers continued to apply pressure in the ninth inning. Walker Mitchell drove in a pair with a two-run single, and later in the frame, Jordan Taylor added a pinch-hit home run, the program's first pinch-hit homer since 2023, to cap the scoring.
With the win, Coastal Carolina improved to 19-7 overall and a perfect 8-0 in Sun Belt Conference play. The victory also marked the Chanticleers' 30th consecutive conference win dating back to last season.
Coastal will look to complete the series sweep of Marshall on Sunday at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
