CONWAY, S.C. –
Gabrielle Beaudet scored four goals to lead Coastal Carolina to a 13–9 win over Sacred Heart on Wednesday afternoon at Brooks Stadium.
The Chanticleers improved to 5-2 overall, while the Pioneers dropped to 0-5.
Beaudet scored the game's first goal just 59 seconds into the contest and added another less than two minutes later to help Coastal take a 3–1 lead after the first quarter. She completed her hat trick with 5:21 remaining in the period on an assist from
Alexandra Horn.
Sacred Heart briefly grabbed momentum in the second quarter, scoring five goals to take a 6–5 lead. Coastal responded late in the half as
Alyson Mascolo tied the game with 1:43 remaining on a pass from
Nikki Seven before Horn scored with 35 seconds left to give the Chants a 7–6 halftime lead.
Coastal pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Pioneers 3–1.
Carleigh Patterson opened the scoring with a goal at 12:17,
Teagan Van Stone added a short-handed goal midway through the period, and Horn finished the run with a free-position goal to extend the lead to 10–7.
Beaudet added her fourth goal early in the fourth quarter on an assist from
Evelyn Kitchin, while Mascolo and
Sophie Kingsborough each scored late to secure the victory.
Kingsborough finished with three goals, while Mascolo and Horn each added two goals. Horn also recorded two assists, and Seven tallied three assists.
Goalkeeper
Charlotte Sadler made four saves, and Coastal controlled the draw circle with a 15–9 advantage.
Megan Hummel led the Chants with six draw controls, while Kitchin added five.
Coastal also held edges in shots (33–21) and ground balls (17–15).
Jamie Tanner led Sacred Heart with three goals and an assist, while Maggie Araneo and Melina Lange each scored twice.
The Chanticleers return to action March 11 at Vanderbilt.
