ATLANTA, Ga. – The Coastal Carolina softball team clinched its three-game series against the Georgia State Panthers with a 7-2 victory on Friday afternoon in Atlanta, Ga.

After two scoreless innings, the Chants opened the scoring when Georgia Hood laced a bases-clearing double to right field, driving in Delaney Keith and Libby Pippin to give Coastal a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Panthers got one run back as Chloe Hatcher led off the frame with a home run to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Georgia State then leveled the score in the bottom of the fifth when Mackenzie Walters followed with a leadoff home run of her own to tie the game at 2-2.

Kaelin Cash came through in the clutch for the Chants in the top of the seventh inning, belting a leadoff home run to put Coastal back in front, 3-2. Keith and Hood followed with back-to-back two-run singles to extend the lead and seal the 7-2 win.

Kate Ryan improved to 4-0 in the circle, pitching a 1-2-3 fifth inning and recording the final three outs in the seventh.
