
Chants Ready for First Road Contest at Florida

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team heads to Gainesville, Fla., for its first road match of the season against the Florida Gators on Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m.

- The Chanticleers opened the 2026 season with a 3-0 shutout victory over Charleston Southern.
- The win improved Coastal Carolina's record in season-opening matches to 12-11-4.
- Three different Chants found the back of the net in the season opener, as Lauryn Barringer and Sammy Schulze each scored the second goals of their careers, while freshman Kamden Pierce netted the first goal of her collegiate career.
- The last time the Chants scored three goals in a match was in September 2024, when Coastal secured a 3-1 victory over Davidson.
- The victory marked 333 days since Coastal's last non-exhibition win, a 2-1 victory over East Carolina on Sept. 7, 2025. Over that span, the Chants posted a 1-2-8 record.
- Florida dropped its season opener to UCF, 4-3, on Aug. 13 in Orlando, Fla.

- Florida will be led by Nick Zimmerman, who enters his first season with the Gators and his second season as a Division I head coach after joining Florida from Mississippi State, where he posted a 12-7-1 record.
- The Gators' roster features 29 players, including eight freshmen, 10 transfers and 11 returners.
- Among those returners is Addy Hess, who led Florida with four goals and three assists during the 2025 season.
- Five Gators were named to the SEC preseason watch list: Hannah Jibril, Zoe Main, Paloma Peña, Adia Symmonds and Kyra Taylor.
- Thursday's match will mark the first-ever meeting between Coastal Carolina and Florida.
