Lamanna Garners Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week Honors

NEW ORLEANS — Coastal Carolina women's soccer student-athlete Aris Lamanna was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The weekly honor marks the first of Lamanna's career and makes her the second Chanticleer to earn Sun Belt Player of the Week honors this season after Olivia Lawrence was named Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 25.
Lamanna put together another solid performance between the pipes for the Chants, recording her fifth shutout of the season in Coastal's 0-0 draw against UNCW on Sunday.
The junior recorded six saves in the match to preserve the clean sheet and move into third nationally with five shutouts on the season.
Lamanna currently leads the Sun Belt with a 0.62 goals-against average and an .884 saves percentage. Her five clean sheets have helped the Chants post a 5-2-1 record through eight matches this season.
Coastal will return to action on Sept. 17, hosting Queens at 6 p.m. ET at the CCU Soccer Complex.
