Men’s Golf Heads To Chicago For Highlands Invitational

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina men's golf returns to competition Monday when the Chanticleers open play at the Highlands Invitational at Chicago Highlands Club in Westchester, Ill.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will feature 36 holes Monday followed by the final 18 holes Tuesday. The Chanticleers will tee off No. 1 beginning at 8:50 a.m. ET Monday and will be paired with Wake Forest and East Tennessee State, the three teams that finished 1-2-3 at last year's Highlands Invitational. Wake Forest won the team title, followed by ETSU and Coastal.
Senior Jack Lee will play in the No. 1 position for the Chanticleers, followed by junior Drew Sykes, senior Waymon Thomas, junior Harrison James and sophomore Lucas Arntsen. Santiago Schele will compete as an individual.
Coastal is part of a 12-team field that also includes College of Charleston, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, North Alabama, Southern Illinois, Toledo and Western Carolina.
The Chanticleers head to Chicago after opening the 2026-27 season with a team championship at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate at Grande Dunes Resort Club. Coastal finished the 54-hole event at 29-under-par 835, nine strokes ahead of runner-up Elon.
The 29-under total was the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history.
Lee and Sykes led the way for Coastal, sharing individual medalist honors at 12-under 204. Lee posted rounds of 66, 68 and 70 to earn medalist honors at the event for the second consecutive year, while Sykes closed with a 6-under 66 to move into a share of the title.
Thomas also finished under par, tying for 17th at 3-under 213 after shooting 71 in all three rounds. Arntsen tied for 35th at 1-over 217, while James tied for 38th at 2-over 218.
The Chanticleers will be making their second consecutive appearance at the Highlands Invitational after placing third in the 13-team field last season. Coastal shot rounds of 284, 293 and 288 to finish at 1-over 865. Wake Forest won the team title at 24-under 840, while East Tennessee State was second at 16-under 848.
Schele, competing as an individual, tied for ninth at last year's event at 4-under 212. Lee tied for 12th at 1-under 215, while Sykes finished tied for 16th at 1-over 217.
