Men's Golf Opens Season At Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's golf team opens the 2026-27 season Sunday when it hosts the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate presented by Carolina Wealth Advisors at Grande Dunes Resort Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament runs through Tuesday and features 16 teams. The four lowest scores among each team's five players will count toward the team total each round.
Senior Jack Lee will lead the Coastal lineup after capturing individual medalist honors at the event last season. Lee carded rounds of 65, 66 and 71 to finish at 14-under 202 and earn his first collegiate victory.
Juniors Drew Sykes and Harrison James, senior Waymon Thomas and sophomore Lucas Arntsen will join Lee in the team lineup. Freshmen Luke Splane and Payton Schmitt, junior Coleman Ferguson and sophomore Santiago Schele will compete as individuals.
Sykes also finished among the top 10 at last year's event, tying for seventh at 6-under 210. Arntsen, competing as an individual, tied for 13th at 4-under 212. Coastal placed fourth in the team standings at 15-under 849.
The Chanticleers enter the season after finishing atop the stroke-play portion of the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Championship and advancing to the championship match. Sykes placed second individually at the conference tournament, while Lee, James and Arntsen also competed in the Chants' postseason lineup.
The field also includes App State, Campbell, East Carolina, Elon, Florida Atlantic, Illinois State, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, North Alabama, Stetson, UNC Wilmington, UTSA and Winthrop. Florida Atlantic returns as the defending team champion after winning last year's event at 26-under par.
Coastal's team lineup will begin Sunday's opening round from the first tee, playing alongside East Carolina and Illinois State. Arntsen will tee off at 8 a.m., followed by Thomas at 8:09, Sykes at 8:18, James at 8:27 and Lee at 8:36.
The four Chanticleers competing as individuals will also start from the first tee. Schmitt tees off at 9:30 a.m., followed by Ferguson at 9:39, Schele at 9:48 and Splane at 9:57.
