Lee Fires 66 To Lead Men's Golf In MBGTI Opening Round

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Jack Lee fired a 6-under-par 66 to lead Coastal Carolina during the opening round of the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate sponsored by Carolina Wealth Advisors on Sunday at The Grande Dunes Resort Club.
The Chanticleers posted an 8-under 280 and are tied for fifth in the 16-team field. Coastal sits four strokes behind leader Elon, which opened with a 12-under 276.
Lee carded six birdies and an eagle to finish the day tied for second in the individual standings. He played a four-hole stretch from Nos. 4-7 at 3-under before adding three birdies and an eagle on the back nine. Lee trails Lipscomb's Ciaran Murphy by one stroke.
Waymon Thomas and Drew Sykes each shot a 1-under 71 and are tied for 28th. Lucas Arntsen added an even-par 72 to complete Coastal's four counting scores, while Harrison James finished with a 3-over 75.
Coleman Ferguson and Santiago Schele led Coastal's three individual competitors with even-par 72s. Payton Schmitt carded a 4-over 76.
Coastal is tied with Jax State and Jacksonville, one stroke behind fourth-place Lipscomb. UTSA is second at 11-under, followed by Campbell at 10-under.
The second round begins Monday at The Grande Dunes Resort Club with Chants playing alongside Jacksonville and Lipscomb, teeing off at 8:45 a.m.
