Coastal Carolina alum Perry Parks joined head coach Tim Beck’s coaching staff in December 2022. He will coach the wide receivers.

Parks joined the Chanticleers’ football team as a walk-on in 2002 and earned a full scholarship in 2003 before ultimately being named team captain before graduating in 2007.

In his first season at Coastal, wide receiver Sam Pinckney set the school's single-season record with 72 pass receptions and became the Sun Belt's all-time leader in receiving yards while also setting an NCAA record with 58 consecutive games with a reception.

Pinckney and Jared Brown were both named all-Sun Belt performers, while Coastal's wide receivers hauled in 17 touchdown receptions.

Parks returned to Coastal after two years on the coaching staff at Charlotte, as he oversaw one of the 49ers' strongest units in the wide receivers from 2021-22.

Charlotte posted two of its top three passing seasons during Parks’ two seasons as receivers coach. His group set a new school record with 27 receiving touchdowns in 2021 and matched that mark in 2022.

In 2022, the 49ers’ wide receivers group included three Biletnikoff Watch Listers and three of the top four receivers in program history. Charlotte’s passing game put up a school-record 271.0 yards per game and accounted for 70 percent of the 49ers’ offense and 68 percent of the team’s offensive touchdowns. The unit included the 49ers’ second all-time leading receiver in Victor Tucker, who amassed over 3,000 receiving yards in his career, Grant DuBose, a 2022 second-team All-Conference USA choice who pulled in 15 TD passes in his two seasons under Parks’ guidance, and sophomore Elijah Spencer, who led the 49ers with a school FBS-record 943 receiving yards after earning C-USA Freshman of the Year honors in 2021.

In his first year with the 49ers in 2021, Charlotte's high-powered offense was also led by its passing game. The 49ers averaged 253.7 passing yards per contest thanks to the wide receiver trio of DuBose, Tucker, and Spencer on the outside. DuBose, the season's top receiver, was named honorable mention All-Conference USA, while Tucker moved up to second all-time in receiving yards and touchdowns. Spencer, who matched DuBose with a team-high six touchdown catches, was named the 2021 C-USA Freshman of the Year.

Parks moved up into the college ranks in 2021 after six seasons as the head coach at Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C. He led the Blazers to a 44-24 record in his six seasons. He ranks second in school history with 44 wins and had over 30 players sign to play collegiately. He also served as the assistant athletics director at Ridge View.

His success included a trip to the 2019 SCHSL Class 4A Upper State championship game and an appearance in the third round of the playoffs three times in his six years. In 2020, Ridge View made the playoffs in its first season after moving to Class 5A. The Blazers went 5-2 in the COVID-shortened season and lost in the first round to Upper State champion TL Hanna.

Prior to coaching at Ridge View, Parks spent three years as the head coach at Lakewood High in Sumter, S.C.  He also served as the offensive coordinator at Pebblebrook High in Mableton, Ga., and Cedar Grove High in Ellenwood, Ga.

Parks was also one of the driving forces behind the Columbia Metro Senior Bowl, which has helped to showcase senior football players from the Columbia area since the inaugural bowl in 2018.

Parks graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Coastal Carolina, where he joined the Chanticleers as a walk-on in 2002 and earned a full scholarship in 2003 before ultimately being named team captain. He received his master's degree in secondary education from Grand Canyon University in 2011.

Prior to walking on the football team at CCU, he played wide receiver at Sumter High School.

Parks and his wife Katie have three children: sons Boaz and Zoren, and a daughter Lola.
