CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina softball outfielder Kimberly Josephson (Pinehurst, Texas-Tomball) was named Big South Player of the Week, while pitcher Morgan Tolleson (Houston, Texas-Tomball) was named Big South Softball Pitcher of the Week, Apr. 15. This is the second time Tolleson has garnered the award this season, and the first time CCU has swept the weekly awards.
Tolleson was outstanding for Coastal this week, going 2-0, with wins over Liberty and Radford. In the second game against Liberty, Tolleson tied her career-high with 10 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched, while giving up just one walk and scattering 10 hits in the two games. She also helped the team offensively in the doubleheader at Liberty, driving in both game-winning runs in the doubleheader sweep.
Josephson put together a solid week at the plate for Coastal, hitting .438 (7-for-16) with a triple, walk, stolen base, three RBI and three runs scored. She led Coastal to four key road Conference wins and the lead in the Big South standings. She had hits in each of the four games, while currently on a six-game hitting streak, including going 2-for-4 in three of the four games. Her triple to right in the finale at Radford sealed the Highlanders fate, as she drove in three runs. Her performance this past weekend raised her season batting average over 20 points.
