CONWAY, S.C. -- The Coastal Carolina Lady Chanticleers softball team was named an All-Academic team and ranked sixth in the nation with a 3.457 grade-point average as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The NFCA member head coaches announced the All-Academic Teams, based on cumulative grade-point averages for the 2005-2006 academic year.
"This is a great honor for our team," head coach Jess Dannelly said. "It is an honor to be on this list, especially as high as we are. Out of all the teams on this list, we are one of the few that made it to the NCAA Tournament, so I am very proud of our team's success in the classroom as well as on the field."
The team will continue their fall workouts and open up their season on Feb. 9, in Chapel Hill, N.C. at the Carolina Classic Tournament where they will take on N.C. State, Tennessee, and Ohio.
