Coastal Carolina University softball senior Ashley Frederick has been named the Coastal Carolina Department of Athletics Athlete of the Week for the week of April 19-25.
The Lusby, Md., native was also named Big South Crons Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 last week in the circle, posting a 1.67 ERA in three complete-game appearances. She allowed no more than five hits in any of the games and recorded 17 strikeouts in 21 innings of work. She started her week against South Carolina, earning the complete game win after giving up three runs on five hits. Against Presbyterian College, she celebrated her senior weekend with two complete game victories and also recorded her first career hit, which happened to be a home run in game two on Saturday.
Frederick and the Chanticleers return to the field Saturday, May 1, in a doubleheader at Winthrop. The first game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
