CONWAY - During the second day of the Chanticleer Challenge, Coastal Carolina would lose a tough 2-1 game to IPFW in the eighth inning on Saturday, but the Chanticleers were able to come back in the second game to beat Sacred Heart 2-0 to move to 9-4 on the season.

The Chanticleers were in scoring position during the second inning as Beth Kassuhn advanced to third on a Jazmin Daigle single, but Coastal came up short during the next two at bats, as two were left on base.

Coastal threatened to score again in the second inning as Sarah Maples advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Brooke Donovan, but the Chanticleers recorded pop ups during the next two at bats.

Defensively the Chanticleers played well as they only allowed four hits during the first seven innings of play.

Coastal was unable to get any offense going in the eighth inning, while Kayti Hanson scored for the Mastodons following Cassie Wolfe's at bat to give IPFW the 1-0 win.

In Coastal's second game of the Chanticleer Challenge the Chants struggled offensively until the fourth inning when Kory Hayden earned a single that allowed Maples to advance home. Paige Goldsack hit a single to left field later in the top of the first, which allowed Kassuhn to score to put Coastal ahead 2-0.

The Chanticleers defense played well against the Pioneers, as Sacred Heart picked up two runs through six innings and four total hits during the game.

Ashley Bagwell earned the win for Coastal on the mound after pitching a complete game in which she gave up four hits, while walking one and striking out four in 25 batters faced.

Nicole Sidor picked up the loss for Sacred Heart as she allowed three hits and three walks, while striking out three in 24 batters faced.
