Final Stats

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina softball team recorded three home runs during their final game of the Chanticleer Challenge to knock off Temple on Sunday by a score of 7-0 to improve to 10-4 on the season and 7-2 at home.

The Chanticleers got on the board in the third inning when Kory Hayden recorded her fifth home run of the season, as she knocked the ball out of left field, which scored Jazmin Daigle and Brooke Donovan to put the score at 3-0.

Coastal carried the momentum into the fourth inning as Jessie Winans hit her second home run of the season to put the Chanticleers ahead by four. Five batters later, Pineda hit another home run that drove in Hayden and Brooke Donovan to make it a 7-0 game.

Temple brought in pitcher Jessica Mahoney following the seven runs; she gave up only three hits during the 2.1 innings that she pitched.

The Coastal defense continued to play strong, as it did all weekend allowing just two hits all game with one coming in the first inning and the other taking place in the fifth.

Kiana Quolas earned the win on the mound following six innings pitched, in which she gave up just two hits and two walks, while striking out five in 22 batters faced.

Brooklin White took the loss for the Owls after 3.2 innings pitched. White gave up five hits, seven runs, seven walks and struck out four.

Hayden finished the game with one hit in two at bats, three RBI, two runs, was walked once and had six assists. Pineda recorded one hit in three at bats, three RBI, one run, was walked once and had five putouts.

Coastal will return to action next weekend when they host the Coastal Carolina Invitational. The Chanticleers will open up play against Dartmouth on Friday, March 2 at 3:30 p.m. Coastal also plays the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
