Oct. 29, 2014 2015 Women's Lacrosse Schedule
CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will play seven home games during the 2015 spring season, according to the schedule that was announced by head coach Jaime Sellers this week. Included in the home lineup are meetings with ACC member Virginia Tech, defending Atlantic Sun champion Jacksonville and defending Big South champion High Point.
"We are excited to announce our schedule for the 2015 season," said Sellers. "This year's lineup features a healthy mix of home and away games, as well as a competitive non-conference schedule that will help prepare us for our Big South Conference games. Entering into the third year of existence, every team in our conference is gaining momentum. We look forward to the competition the 2015 season will bring as we work towards our goal of winning a conference championship."
The Chanticleers will host three games against Big South opponents, beginning with High Point on April 10. The Panthers were the conference's regular-season champions in 2014, and have won the only two tournament championships since the Big South began sponsoring women's lacrosse in 2013.
Coastal will then welcome first-year program Gardner-Webb, which became the Big South's eighth women's lacrosse team earlier this year (former associate member Davidson is now part of the Atlantic 10 conference). The Chants and Runnin' Bulldogs are set to meet on April 17, at 6 pm.
The Chants' final home conference game is against Presbyterian on April 19. Coastal is 2-0 all-time against the Blue Hose.
Coastal's non-conference home slate begins with Virginia Tech on February 22, followed by Jacksonville on February 28. The Hokies are making their second trip to Conway in three seasons, previously defeating the Chants at home in 2013, while Coastal's matchup against the Dolphins will be the first in program history.
Delaware State (March 8) and Cincinnati (March 15) round out Coastal's home schedule.
The Chants begin their season at Stetson on February 14, followed by games at Elon (March 6), Furman (March 20) and Kenensaw State (March 2) to round out Coastal's non-conference road schedule.
Coastal begins the conference portion of its schedule on the road at Longwood (April 4) and Liberty (April 6). The Chants then play at Winthrop on April 12, before closing the 2015 regular season at Campbell on April 24.
The 2015 Big South Championship begins on April 29 with the top-four seeds hosting quarterfinal matches. The semifinals (May 1) and championship game (May 3) will be played on the campus of the highest-seeded team.
All Coastal Carolina home games for the 2015 season will be played at CCU Soccer Stadium, located off University Boulevard across from Brooks Stadium. Admission to all home events is free.
