Colin Marz Named NSCAA All-Region

Dec. 9, 2015

2015 NSCAA NCAA Division I Men's All-South Region

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its All-Region teams Wednesday with Coastal Carolina senior defensive midfielder Colin Marz earning All-South Region third team honors.

Marz was one of 10 Big South Conference players named All-South Region, which is composed of institutions from the Atlantic Coast, Big South and Southern conferences.

Marz, who holds a 3.844 GPA as a recreation and sport management, proved to be Coastal's most consistent defensive midfielder. The Crete, Ill., native started all 20 games, logging 1,875 minutes en route to leading a CCU defense that posted 10 shutouts and a 0.66 goals against average. He was often charged with disrupting midfield play of opposing attacks and marking the opposition's top midfield threat.

It is the first time in Marz's career he has earned the distinction from the NSCAA. Earlier this season Marz was named to the first team All-Big South and league's All-Academic team as well. The Chanticleer finished the 2015 season at 13-3-4 (6-1-2 Big South) and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they ultimately fell to fifth-seeded North Carolina.
