CONWAY - The 2015 Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team begins its third season as a Division I program with a trip to Stetson University on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m.

"There is always a feeling of excitement and anticipation surrounding the beginning of each season, and this year is no different," said third-year head coach Jaime Sellers. "Our players have been focused, positive and diligent in their efforts to apply concepts and prepare for competition. With many experienced returners, this 2015 team possesses strong leadership, refined skills and a desire to win. I can't wait to see how they compete."

Saturday's game will mark only the second time the Chanticleers and Hatters have played with Coastal currently holding a 1-0 advantage against Stetson after a 15-5 victory in Conway last season. Additionally, the Chants hold a 5-1 record against teams from the Atlantic Sun Conference with their lone blemish coming in the form of a 12-10 loss to Elon in 2014. In those six games, Coastal has outscored its Atlantic Sun opponents 96-60.

In last season's game against Stetson, the Chants were led by a trio of hat tricks from Keri White, Rachel Ferrara and Charlotte O'Leary as they defeated the Hatters by the third-largest margin of victory in the program's two-year history. White and Ferrara each added assists to lead Coastal in scoring with four points apiece. Goalkeeper Trista Kuehn received her first win of the season after recording two saves and allowing four goals before being relieved in the net by Maria Platsidakis.

Following Saturday's game, Coastal will return to Conway and play host to ACC-foe Virginia Tech in its home opener on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
