CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina softball team split a pair of low scoring games in Saturday's play of the Battle at the Beach, rebounding from a 2-1 loss to Ole Miss to blank St. Bonaventure 3-0.

The final two games for the tournament scheduled for Sunday have been cancelled due to the forecast for inclement weather.

Morgan Noad, Kailey Mellen and Kory Hayden each hit solo home runs in the win for the Chanticleers (5-4), while Kelsey Dominik pitched her second straight two-hit shutout. She struck out four and walked two, improving to 3-1.

Noad homered to centerfield in the first inning to give her 32 for her career and move into fourth place alone on the program's all-time list. Mellen drove one over the fence in right-center in the fourth inning for her first collegiate home run. Hayden then hit a low bullet over the left-field fence leading off the sixth for her third of the season and 51st of her career.

Dominik did the rest, working around a pair of early Chanticleer errors and allowing only singles in the third and fifth innings.

In the earlier game Saturday, Ole Miss took a 1-0 lead in the third on a walk, a sacrifice and a two-out single. Coastal had a chance to even it in the bottom of the inning as Kiana Quolas, Hayden and Amanda Daneker singled. However, following the latter, Quolas was caught trying to score after an overthrow at the plate for the third out.

The Chanticleers were able to tie it in the fourth, though. Dominik came back from 0-2 count to draw a leadoff walk and moved to second on a sacrifice by Mellen, and Sara Rasley followed with an RBI double to right center.

Ole Miss (6-4) quickly regained the lead in the top of the fifth on an infield single, passed ball, groundout and another infield single. The Rebels had a chance to add more in the top of the sixth, putting runners on first and third with nobody out, but Quolas induced three straight forceouts, including two at home plate to escape.

The Chants then loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the inning, as Daneker and Dominik walked and Mellen singled to the right side. However, Ole Miss reliever Lauren Lindsey answered with a popout, a strikeout and a forceout at third to keep the lead and enable the Rebels to hold on.

Both teams totaled seven hits in the game, with seven different Coastal players collecting one. Quolas suffered the loss despite allowing just one earned run with three strikeouts and three walks. Emily Gaitan allowed one run on five hits over five-plus innings to earn the win before Lindsey came on in relief after the two walks to start the sixth.

Coastal's scheduled game at the College of Charleston on Wednesday has also been postponed due to weather concerns. No make-up date has been announced yet.
