Box Score LAFAYETTE, La. – The Coastal Carolina softball team's season came to a close after falling to the No. 3-seeded Texas State Bobcats 9-2 in the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinals.
The Chants capitalized early when
McKennah Metzger reached on a Texas State fielding error, which allowed
Delaney Keith to score and give Coastal a 1-0 lead.
The Bobcats answered back in the bottom of the frame, piling on four runs on a Kat Zarate home run, a Karmyn Bass single, and a Megan Kelnar single to push ahead 4-1.
After two scoreless innings, the Chants got one run back when
Kaelin Cash cranked a leadoff home run over the right-field wall to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Texas State's bats got hot in the bottom of the fourth inning, tacking on five runs on a passed ball, an RBI single, and a three-run home run to extend their lead to 9-2.
The Bobcats secured the run-rule victory in the bottom of the sixth inning, adding the final run on a bases-loaded walk to seal the 10-2 win.
Abby Henderson dropped to 9-15 in the circle, allowing four runs on eight hits across 2.0 innings of work.
