Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 March 28, 2015

Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

CONWAY - Kiana Quolas and Kelsey Dominik each pitched complete-game shutouts as the Coastal Carolina softball team blanked Winthrop 6-0 and 5-0 in a doubleheader Saturday to sweep the three-game Big South Conference series.

Morgan Noad hit two home runs and had four RBIs in the opener, while Sara Rasley had a three-run homer in the second game as the Chanticleers (18-15 overall) improved to 6-2 in the conference with five straight victories.

Quolas and Dominik combined to hold Winthrop (12-19, 1-5) to just eight hits on the day while being backed by strong defense. Quolas pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts in the first game and Dominik also allowed just four hits and struck out six in the nightcap.

Noad provided the day's early offense for Coastal, hitting a line drive to right leading off the second inning. She then followed a Bri Chiusano walk in the third by lofting one up in the air the opposite way that carried over the fence in left for a two-run shot and a 3-0 lead. She now has 11 longballs on the year and the multi-HR game was the third of her career and second of the season.

Coastal then capped the game's scoring with three runs on two hits, two walks and two hit batters in the fifth inning. Chiusano led off with another free pass, stole second and advanced to third when the high throw went into center field. Quolas followed with an RBI single, Kory Hayden was hit by a pitch and a wild pitch moved runners to second and third. Noad then singled to right to cap a 3 for 3 game, another walk loaded the bases and Kailey Mellen got an RBI when she was hit by a pitch.

Meanwhile, Quolas (10-9) pitched around singles in each of the first three innings before giving up just one hit the rest of the way for her third shutout of the season.

Dominik (7-4) followed up in the second game by scattering hits to the Eagles in the first, fourth, fifth and seventh innings en route to her fourth shutout.

The Chants got all the offense in needed with a two-out rally in the third. Chiusano walked again and Annie Robinson followed with an RBI double to the fence in right-center. Hayden then dropped an RBI single in front of the left-fielder.

Rasley's three-run homer then made it 5-0 in the fourth. Amanda Daneker hit a leadoff single and Mellen walked before Rasley hammered one over the left-field fence for her fifth of the season and fourth in the last eight games. Daneker had two of the Chants' seven hits in the victory.

Coastal held Winthrop to just one run in the series and have won seven straight over the Eagles the last two seasons and nine in row at home dating back to 2011.

The Chanticleers conclude their homestand and takes a break from conference play when they host N.C. State for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 1. The first game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
