CONWAY - For the second time in three weeks, Coastal Carolina senior Kiana Quolas has been selected the Big South Conference's Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Also, it was just announced that Tuesday's scheduled game at home against South Carolina has been postponed due to rain and the forecast for more in the afternoon. The teams will attempt to make it up, but no date has been set.
Quolas notched victories in all three of her starts last week to help the Chanticleers go a perfect 5-0 and extend their winning streaks to eight games overall and 11 in conference play. The senior posted a 1.56 ERA over 18 innings of work and had back-to-back one-run performances against Radford over the weekend. She allowed 15 hits in the three games, while totaling 11 strikeouts with just four walks.
The three wins moved Quolas into a tie for third in Big South history with 87. The righthander, who already ranks second on Coastal's career victories list, needs three more to tie for second all-time in the conference, behind CCU Hall of Fame member Michelle Hall (104). Quolas also now ranks sixth on the Big South's complete games list with 96, two shy of a tie for fourth, and is ninth in strikeouts with 574.
Among the NCAA's active career leaders, Quolas is tied third in complete games and fifth in wins. Also for the Chanticleers, Bri Chiusano's stolen-base total of 105 is fourth overall and most among juniors, while Kory Hayden is tied for eighth with her Big South-record 59 home runs.
Meanwhile, Sara Rasley has now tied former teammate Cacia Pierre for seventh place on the program's home run list with 24. In addition, the senior has already set new season-highs with eight home runs, eight doubles and 28 RBIs. She ranks fourth, tied for second and third on the team, respectively, in those categories. Her 23 RBIs over the last 18 games lead the squad and her seven homers are second.
Coastal's home run total of 68 - two shy of the school record - is tied for10th most in the nation, while it ranks 13th in homers per game. Individually, Morgan Noad ranks tied for 17th with her 16 home runs and 24th in slugging, while Chiusano is tied for ninth in stolen bases (28).
The Chanticleers will attempt to make a makeup game at theCollege of Charleston Wednesday at 4 p.m.
