CONWAY - After a seven-game road stretch, the Coastal Carolina softball team is back at home this weekend to wrap up its regular-season schedule with a three-game series against Presbyterian. Saturday's scheduled doubleheader has been moved up to an 11 a.m. start due to the forecast for afternoon rain. The Chanticleers will then honor their six seniors prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. finale.
Saturday's first game will be broadcast by the American Sports Network on a tape-delay basis at the originally-scheduled time of 3 p.m. The American Sports Network can be found on the CW (TWC Channel 8) in Myrtle Beach. Saturday's second game and the finale on Sunday will air live on the Big South Network.
Immediately following Saturday's second game, the team will hold an autograph session with free posters provided. Bingo will also be held during the games for the chance to win Myrtle Beach Family Golf passes.
The Chanticleers (29-21 overall) are now 14-6 in Big South play, but that includes a perfect 8-0 mark at home. Presbyterian will enter with a 21-19 overall record and stands fourth in the conference at 9-7.
The series will feature the league's top two batting teams as the Blue Hose lead with a .300 team average, while Coastal is second at .296. Six Presbyterian batters are currently hitting .316 or better on the season. The Chanticleers, meanwhile, will look to add to their school-record and conference-leading home run total of 74. The Big South all-time mark is 80 by Longwood two years ago.
Individually, Morgan Noad is one home run away from equaling the CCU single-season record of 20 held by Hall of Famer Meagen Johnson. Kory Hayden has reached base in 29 consecutive games, while Bri Chiusano needs one stolen base to tie for second in Big South history.
