Final Stats

CONWAY - Ced Gibson and Nicole Isaacs combined to score 43 points Tuesday night at The HTC Center as Coastal Carolina downed Presbyterian 60-47, and extended its season-long Big South win streak to three games. Tuesday's victory was also the third straight on the Chants' home court, the first such home win streak in conference play since the 2013-14 season.

Coastal (11-15, 6-11) has won four of its last five games, with all four wins coming against higher-ranked teams in the Big South standings, including second-place Liberty (16-10, 13-4) and third-place Presbyterian (15-11, 11-6).

Through 30 minutes of play the game remained close with five ties and six lead changes, but Coastal's offense exploded for 29 points in the final quarter, nearly matching the 31 scored during the previous three.

For the second time during Coastal's streak the Chanticleer defense held its opponent to shooting below 30.0 percent from the floor, as PC managed just 13 baskets on 44 attempts and was held to single-digit points in the first and third quarters.

Coastal, meanwhile, finished 41.3 percent from the floor while getting 12 of its 19 baskets in the second half. The Chants also hit 10 3-pointers for the second straight game, and made all but one of their 13 attempts from the line.

Gibson's shooting hand remained hot as the junior guard scored a team-high 23 points, her third straight game with at least 20, and fifth time in the last six that she has scored 19 or more. Gibson also led all players with seven assists, one shy of her season-high set on Dec. 21 against Wofford.

Issacs remained similarly hot, scoring 20 points on 6-of-13 from beyond the arc with a pair of free throws. The senior guard extended her streak of scoring in double figures to six games, and has scored 16 or more in each of Coastal's last three. Tuesday night's point total marked the third time this season that Isaacs has scored 20 or more.

Stephanie Isaacs rounded out Coastal's top-three scorers with 11 points, all of which came in the fourth quarter. She set a Coastal season-high making all nine of her free throw attempts, and added one basket from the floor while also collecting six rebounds.

The Chants held a significant rebound advantage for the game, beating PC 37-25 on the boards.

For the third time during their current streak, the Chants took an early lead in the opening quarter, outscoring the Blue Hose 14-6 while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor with a trio of 3-pointers. Over its last three games, Coastal has outpaced its opponents 42-26 in the first quarter.

The Chanticleers knocked down five of their first seven shots to start the game, while PC struggle to find the basket in the early going, making just one of nine shots in the first. Aianna Kelly's basket at 7:34 of the first stood as PC's only field goal until one minute into the second quarter. The Blue Hose's only other points in the first came from Salina Virola at the line.

The second quarter was the only one in which Chants were outscored (18-5), managing just two makes from the floor, including a 3-pointer from Gibson. PC overtook the lead at 6:22 of the quarter, though Coastal managed to even the score twice and regain the lead for a brief period before the Blue Hose took a 24-19 lead into halftime.

Nicole Isaacs sparked the Chants' offense coming out of the locker room with consecutive 3-pointers, and Coastal tied the game for the fourth time after a Josie Utley jumper at 5:37 of the third. Gibson accounted for Coastal's final four points of the quarter, which sandwiched a Virola basket that tied the game for the fifth time at 29-29, to give the Chants a 31-29 lead going into the fourth.

Coastal held PC off the board for the first five-and-a-half minutes of the final quarter, during which time the Chants worked towards their biggest lead of the night at 17 points. Gibson and Nicole Isaacs combined for 14 points during that stretch, and Stephanie Isaacs sealed the game by scoring eight of Coastal's final 10 points at the line.

Coastal will look to sweep its second Big South season series on Saturday as the home standing Chants welcome Gardner-Webb to The HTC Center for a 2 p.m. game. CCU opened the 2016 calendar year with a 59-56 win in Boiling Springs, N.C., on Jan. 2.

Saturday's game marks the first time the Chants play consecutive home games since Coastal hosted Warren Wilson and UNC Asheville on Dec. 9 and 14, respectively.
