Sean Teepen Joins Men's Soccer Staff

CONWAY - Sean Teepen, who both played collegiately and coached at NCAA Division II power University of Charleston (W. Va.), has been named a coaching assistant for the Coastal Carolina men's soccer program, announced Chanticleer head coach Shaun Docking. Teepen will work primarily with the team's goalkeepers.

Teepen previously served as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach at the University of Charleston (W.Va.) between 2013 and 2015, where he helped the Golden Eagles men's soccer team win a combined five conference titles and earn the nation's No. 1 ranking by the NSCAA.

In 2015, Teepen helped Charleston to a 20-3 overall record and a Mountain East Conference tournament championship. The 2014 squad went 22-1-1, was an NCAA Division II national runner-up, earned a NSCAA No. 1 national ranking and won the MEC tournament. In 2013, Teepen's first year with the Golden Eagles, they were the MEC tournament champion.

During his three-year tenure at Charleston, Teepen coached five All-Americans, 10 All-Region and 18 All-Mountain East Conference selections.

His coaching experience also includes stints with the West Virginia Chaos (2014-15), University of Charleston women's team (2013-15), West Virginia ODP (2015), Charleston FC (2014-15), Butler University (2015), Walnut Hills High School (2014) and Oakland University (2012).

Teepen entered the coaching ranks following an accomplished pro and college playing career. Between 2009 and 2012, he played at the University of Charleston, where he was a four-time NSCAA All-Regional and three-time WVIAC All-Conference selection.

Teepen was the starting goalkeeper all four years at Charleston, leading the Golden Eagles to three NCAA tournament appearances, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2009 and Sweet 16 in 2010.

Following his graduation from Charleston in 2013, Teepen signed a professional contract with the Dayton Dutch Lions of the USL Premier Development League. Teepen also played in the Premier Development League for the Michigan Bucks in 2012, as well as the West Virginia Chaos in 2014.

Teepen earned his bachelor's degree in interior design from the University of Charleston in 2013 and his master's degree, also from Charleston, in strategic leadership in 2015.
