CONWAY - Kelsey Dominik hit two home runs and pitched five scoreless innings on Wednesday evening, leading the Chanticleers to an 8-3 victory over the Columbia Lions at the Coastal Carolina Softball Stadium.

The Chanticleers improved to a 13-13 record on the season and will continue play this weekend, traveling to Presbyterian to open conference play in a three-game series. First pitch is set for Sat., March 19 at 1 p.m.

Dominik (3-for-4) finished the game with two dingers, six RBIs and two runs scored, while Kailey Mellen (2-for-3) hit a two-run double.

Columbia took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Taylor Troutt hit a two-run homer over the left center field fence.

Leading off in the bottom of the first, Bri Chiusano (2-for-4) and Taty Forbes (2-for-4) singled. Then, Coastal scored a run off a sac fly from Dominik to plate Chiusano and cut Columbia's lead to 2-1.

Thanks to Dominik's solo home run and Mellen's two-run RBI double in the bottom of the third, Coastal took the lead 3-2.

After Chiusano singled in the fourth, Dominik continued her stellar hitting performance with an RBI double to left, sending Chiusano to home for a 5-2 difference.

In the bottom of the sixth, Dominik gave Coastal an 8-2 lead over the Lions with her a three-run shot to center, her second homer of the day.

Columbia's pinch hitter, Maura Lynch hit a solo shot to provide the final score, 8-3 in the seventh.

Dominik (8-7) pitched a full 6.0 innings to earn the win. She scattered four hits and allowed two runs with two walks and five strikeouts. Taylor Rahach finished the game in the circle, pitching 1.0 inning allowing one run and two hits.
