WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday at the UNC Wilmington Tournament, blanking Stevenson 5-0 before falling to the host Seahawks in a tight 3-2 match.

Coastal (2-6) started the day with an exhibition match against Winthrop before squaring off against fellow first-year programs Stevenson and UNC Wilmington.

Coastal 5 -- Stevenson 0
The Chants' sweep of the Mustangs included straight-sets decisions on four of the five courts.

Natasa Savovic and Alise Petersone earned their third win as a pair on the top court this season, knocking off SU's top duo 21-15, 21-13. Tahleia Bishop and Aleksandra Djuric likewise won their third match at No. 2 with a 21-17, 21-12 victory.

Sara Boothe and Mika Mierzwa paired to deliver a 21-13, 21-15 victory at No. 4, and the No. 5 match resulted in a 21-11, 21-15 win for Iva Mandic and Dora Lulic.

The only match to reach three sets was on the third court, where Leah Hardeman and Carla Cahill rallied from a first-set loss to take the final two 21-9, 15-10.

UNC Wilmington 3 -- Coastal 2
Coastal made one lineup change entering its match against UNCW, as Shelby Ladewig paired with Mandic on the fifth court.

All five points were decided in straight sets.

Savovic/Petersone won their second match of the day at No. 1, as did Bishop/Djuric at No. 2.

UNCW's three points came from the bottom of the lineup as Borgiotti/McCullough defeated Hardeman/Cahill at No. 3; Alvis/Kelly topped Boothe/Mierzwa at No. 4; and Ladewig/Mandic fell to Hunt/Gesell at No. 5.

The UNCW tournament concludes on Sunday with a pairs tournament with all school's duos competing for a championship. The pairs tournament is set to begin at 9 a.m.
