LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Coastal Carolina University's softball player senior Morgan Noad has been named to the NFCA Division I All-Region teams, as announced on Thursday.
Noad was selected to the Southeast Region Third Team as a catcher becoming the 15th Coastal Carolina player to earn All-Region honors.
The NFCA's Southeast Region is comprised of 27 schools from the Big South, ACC, SEC, Atlantic Sun, and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conferences. A total of 13 of those programs are in this year's NCAA Regionals field, including seven teams ranked in the top 20 in the lasted NFCA poll -- No. 1 Florida, No. 5 Auburn, No. 6 Florida State, No. 12 Missouri, No. 14 Tennessee, No. 16 Kentucky and No. 19 Georgia.
Noad was named the 2016 Big South Player of the year after a record breaking season as she became the Big South's All-Time career home run (75) and RBI (217) record holder. The senior finished the season averaging .377 at the plate while slugging .806 -- fifth best in the program -- and tallied 66 hits, 72 RBI -- ranking third best in the program, and 23 homers -- a single season best and a program leading record. Further, Noad leads the nation with her 23 homers and ranks third with 72 RBI.
A total of 34 of the 38 Southeast Region players come from SEC and ACC teams. The only other non-SEC or ACC representatives were Longwood pitcher Elizabeth McCarthy, a third-team pick, and a Florida A&M pitcher Kenya Pereira also a third team selection.
