Game 1 Game 2

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina softball team split a doubleheader with the ULM Warhawks in Conway, Saturday afternoon. The Chants won game one, 3-1, and dropped the second, 6-3, in extra innings, falling in nine.

The Chanticleers are now 26-10, 5-5 in the Sun Belt, while the Warhawks go to 20-14, and 5-6 in conference play.

GAME 1, CCU 3, ULM 1

A two-run home run by Chelsea D'Avilar in the fifth inning lifted Coastal to a 3-1 victory over visiting ULM.

The Warhawks got on the scoreboard first with Melanie Coyne leading off the second inning with her third home run of the year.

The Chanticleers answered back in the home portion of the third. Taty Forbes doubled to left center to score Angela Buccilli, who had just singled up the middle.

Adriana Toro got the fifth started with a walk, allowing D'Avilar to step up to get her second round-tripper of the year for the final runs of the game.

Taylor Rahach pitched a complete game to improve her record to 11-3. Rahach allowed four hits, one run, two base on balls and struck out four. Rahach did not allow a hit after giving up the home run in the second until allowing a two-out hit the seventh before recording the final out.

GAME 2, ULM 6, CCU 3 (9)

The Coastal Carolina softball team suffered a 6-3, nine-inning setback in game two against ULM.

Coastal Carolina got on the board first in the second. Alexis Alvino led off with a double and scored on a soft grounder to third. Forbes followed with a single to second to extend the inning. Amanda Daneker loaded the bases on a single to the shortstop. Timi Tooley got the first hit out of the infield to plate both Buccilli and Forbes for the 3-0 lead. The Chants chased the starting pitcher with two outs in the second.

Singles by Samantha Agamaite, Jayden Mount and Sydney McKay plated Megan Shaw, who reached on a fielder's choice, in the top of the third as the Warhawks started to claw their way back into the game.

ULM tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth when Shaw led off with a walk and advanced to third on a double to right by Mount. McKay brought home Shaw to make it a one-run game. Coyne got her second RBI of the day pushing Mount across the plate to close out the scoring in the fifth.

Both pitchers settled in allowing two hits each until the ninth. The Warhawks took advantage of a walk by Shaw, who moved to second on single by Mount. McKay then singled to right field that sored Shaw. Coyne got her final RBI of the day on a single through the right side, plating Mount and advancing McKay to third. Hunter Hogan pushed the final run of the game across the plate with a single up the middle for the 6-3 lead.

Paige Porter pitched seven innings to get the win for the Warhawks. Porter shut down the bats allowing two hits and one walk while striking out four to improve to 4-2 on the year.

Ashley Guillette scattered six hits and gave up three runs, three walk in 6.2 innings with five strikeouts. Devin Wallace (6-3) suffered the loss in relief. She allowed five hits, three runs and two walks with five strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work.

The final game of the series will be played in Conway (April 2) at 12:00 p.m. the scheduled first pitch time.
