CONWAY - Juan Castellanos of the Coastal Carolina men's tennis team is set to participate in the South American Youth Games, beginning Oct. 1 in Chile.

A total of 1,279 athletes from 14 countries are participating in 20 sports in the Games. All 14 National Olympic Committees of the ODESUR are expected to compete.

Castellanos begins play Sunday in both singles and doubles. The freshman from Bogota, Colombia, faces Ignacio Becerra from Chile in the round of 16 singles, and will take on the winner of the match between Panama and Bolivia in the doubles quarterfinals.

The closing ceremony for the Games is Oct. 8 at Estadio Nacional.
