Wildschutt Brothers Finish In Top Spots For Men At High Point

KERNERSVILLE, N. C. – For the third consecutive race, Coastal Carolina's Nadeel and Adriaan Wildschutt finished one and two respectively. The brothers helped the Chanticleer men to a second place finish at Friday's VertCross Invitational while the women finish in the top ten, placing ninth.

MEN'S RESULTS

Junior Nadeel Wildschutt earned his third straight victory in three events and second consecutive in an 8K event with a time of 24:10.92. His brother Adriaan took home second place as the sophomore finished with a career-best time of 24:10.97.

Also in the top ten for the Chanticleers, junior Hutson Baumann placed sixth with a time of 25:07.24.

To round out the Chants roster; Andrew Southard (47^th – 27:16.58), Doug Mullen (48^th – 27:17.58), Michael Pieterse (70^th – 27:52.21), Matthew Evans (91^st - 28:38.17), Andrew Avery (95^th – 28:53.70), Elijah Lawson (110^th – 29:56.27)

The Coastal men finished second overall with 84 points as they averaged a time of 25:40.53.

WOMEN'S RESULTS

For the women, junior Alyssa LeClaire was the top CCU finisher as she finished with a time of 19:32.85 (31st) in the 5K event.

Freshman Heather Delaplaine finished her fourth career race with a time of 20:16.65 in 59^th. Also, Giovanna Leone (74^th - 20:55.26), Lexi Carpenter (87^th – 21:16.95), Sarah Lemon (94^th – 21:32.68), Rebecca Lehman (117^th – 22:26.56), Bailey Johnson (119^th – 22:42.30), Alyssa Lynch ( 120^th – 22:47.33), Cameron Rice (127^th – 23:40.55), Grace Lennon (132^nd - 24:13.94), Cary Brown (133^rd – 24:33.09), and Kerry O'Connor (137^th – 25:13.68) rounded out the 168 person field.

Freshman Rebecca Lehman's 22:26.56 was a career-best in just her third career race.

The women averaged 20:42.88 for 9^th place overall.
