WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team picked up its first Sun Belt Conference win tonight with a 2-1 victory at Howard University.
Yazeed Matthews and
Tyrone Mondi hooked up twice late in the match to push the Chanticleers to the road win at Howard. Neither team could score until Matthews scored in the 73

That lead did not last long as the home-standing Bison scored just over three minutes later on a penalty kick off the foot of Andres Gomez.
The match stayed tied at one for just over six minutes when Mondi once again found Matthews in the 83
rd minute for the match-winner.
The Chants outshot Howard 13-12 for the game, including a 9-4 edge in shots on goal.
Chris Dattalo was in goal all 90 minutes for CCU picking up three more saves, which pushed him to over 40 saves on the season.
The two goals from Matthews adds to his team-leading total giving him seven on the season. Mondi now has three assists which is tied for team-high honors with Matthews and
Tsiki Ntsabeleng.
