NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the second time in as many weeks Coastal Carolina's Sydney Alvis has been named the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon. It is the third such honor that the senior defensive specialist has garnered this season.
 
Alvis led Coastal's defensive efforts in a pair of home wins over Georgia Southern and Georgia State last week. She averaged 5.86 digs per set over the two matches, including a match-high of 26 digs in Friday's four-set victory over the Eagles. Her 26 digs were the second-most in a match this season for Alvis. She also tallied 15 digs in a three-set sweep of the Panthers on Sunday.
 
Coastal has two regular season matches remaining before the start of the 2018 Sun Belt Championship. The Chants close out their regular season schedule this weekend in Alabama with matches at South Alabama (Nov. 9) and Troy (Nov. 11).
