LEXINGTON, Ky. – Coastal Carolina junior setter/opposite hitter
Jalyn Stout was one of 17 student-athletes added to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) inaugural watch list for its Division I Player of the Year Award, presented by Nike Volleyball.
The initial list, announced in late July, included 30 players from 20 schools. With the addition of 17 players, the list now consists of 47 players from 28 different schools. Semifinalists for the award will be announced in November, and the finalists will be revealed in December. The Player of the Year announcement will take place on Friday, Dec. 19, at the AVCA Awards Banquet.
Stout is the only student-athlete on the Watch List outside the four autonomy conferences (ACC, Big Ten, Big XII, SEC) and the BIG EAST.
She has produced an NCAA-best seven triple-doubles this season en route to setting the association record for career triple-doubles with 41.
Stout leads the Chanticleers and ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in total points (202) and sixth in points per set (4.04). She also leads Coastal in kills (171) and kills per set (3.42), while ranking second in assists (3.90) and digs (3.32) per set as well as total assists (195) and total digs (166).
The Chanticleers (9-4, 2-0 Sun Belt) host Old Dominion (3-10, 0-2) at the HTC Center on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4. Friday's match is scheduled for 6 p.m. and Saturday's contest is slated for 2 p.m.
