ROCK HILL, S.C. – On Friday, the Coastal Carolina men's and women's cross country squads competed at the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional on the campus of Winthrop University.
Adriaan Wildschutt was the top finisher for both teams as the freshman placed 20
th overall in the men's 10K event.

Wildschutt along with his brother, Nadeel were neck and neck at the 4.1-kilometer split, 4
th and 5
th respectively. As both brothers passed through the next split at 7K, each runner fell back off their pace they started in and marking at 13
th (21:32) and 17
th (21:36) behind race leader Peter Seufer of Virginia Tech.
Adriaan finished the race with a time of 30:21.70 behind the winner James Sugira of Eastern Kentucky who finished at 29:26.90.

Southard, Pieterse, and Mullen each broke their personal bests in the 10K which were set in last year's Southeast Regional.
The Coastal men finished 20
th overall as a team with 567 points and had an average time of 32:39.34. The Chanticleers finished ahead of fellow Sun Conference school, Appalachian State who finished 21
st.

In the women's 6K race, sophomore
Lisha van Onselen was the top Coastal Carolina and Sun Belt performer, as she placed 64
th with a time of 21:20.90. At the 2.6K split, the sophomore was in 73
rd place, 30 seconds behind the race leader and eventual winner Dorcas Wasike of Louisville.
The 2018 second team All-Sun Belt performer bested her 2017 regional time by 32 seconds at the University of Virginia where she ran 21:52.22.

Overall as a team, the Coastal women finished 31 out of 33 teams with 846 points with an average time of 23:06.50.
