Box Score March 18, 2018 Final Stats
SAN MARCOS, TX - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers fell to 1-5 in conference and 14-14 overall on Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium to Randi Rupp and the Texas State Bobcats. Rupp ended the day with a perfect game as she threw six innings with 11 strikeouts.
The Texas State senior was able to strike out the side in the first two of the three innings and never looked back.
The Bobcats jumped on the Chanticleers in the second inning as Ariel Ortiz led-off with a walk and stole second base. Tara Oltmann then tripled and came around to score on a Haleigh Davis double right field. Jaelyn Young also singled in the inning as it scored Oltmann for Texas State's third run of the inning.
Texas State picked up two runs in the bottom of the third as Hailey McKay singled to center field. And then Ortiz tripled over Coastal center fielder Timi Tooley to bring around McKay to score.
Chanticleer starter Kaitlin Beasley-Polko got the next batter, Oltmann, to fly out to right to bring in Ortiz for the second run of the inning and take a 5-0 lead.
The Bobcats put away the Chants in the sixth as they added five runs in the sixth inning to end the game. McKay homered on the very last pitch of the game with a grand slam and her second hit of the day.
Coastal Carolina returns to action on Wednesday at they return home to face the Charleston Southern at 4 p.m.
