Liberty Kickoff Day Two Results (PDF)
LYNCHBURG, VA. – On Saturday afternoon, women's indoor track and field wrapped up their second and final day of the Liberty Kickoff at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
Joya Blackwell competed in two events on Saturday, the high Jump and long jump. In the high jump, the sophomore picked up a fifth-place finish in which she tied with Bhrandi Crenshaw of N.C. Central at a mark of 1.60 meters, just behind the leading mark of 1.70 meters.

Blackwell and two teammates,
Kelsey Briggs and
Erica Evans, took to action in the long jump where Blackwell placed highest with a mark of 4.99 meters (26
th). Briggs fouled on her first two attempts of the day but reached a mark of 4.96 meters on her last attempt to place 30
th overall. Evans also fouled on her first two jumps of the day, but then was able to reach 4.35 meters on her last.
Lisha van Onselen placed in the top 15 as the junior competed in the 3000 meters where she finished with a time of 10:36.26.
Another top 15 finished occurred in the 4x400 relay as
Hesmari Coetzee,
Kelsey Briggs,
Anacia Hines, and
Rebecca Lehman finished 14
th with a time of 4:05.21.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Evans and
Anacia Hines finished in the top 20 respectively of their event as the junior Evans finished 12
th overall with a time of 9.24. The senior Hines placed five spots behind in 17
th with a time of 9.28.
Hines also competed in the 60-meter dash on the day where she finished with a time of 8.10 in the 36
th position. Fellow sprinter
Karissa Lunn fared better with a time of 8.03, placing 27
th.
Freshman
Airika McCaskill finished in the top 25 of the shot put event where she recorded a career-best throw of 11.62 meters on her second attempt of the day. Last week at the Gamecock Inaugural, the Spring Grove, Pennsylvania native reached distance of 11.07 meters.
Teammates
Heather Delaplaine and
Rebecca Lehman competed against each other in the 800 meters and saw Delaplaine finish ahead of her fellow freshman in 18
th place with a time of 2:26:57. Lehman finished four spots behind with a time of 2:28.39.
Senior
Sarah Lemon competed in the mile and finished with a time of 5:43.62.
The Chanticleer will return to action next weekend when they head back to Columbia, South Carolina for the second time in three weeks for the Carolina Challenge. Action kicks off on Friday at the Indoor Track and Field Complex on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
