Coastal Women’s Lacrosse Announces 2020 Schedule

Chanticleers will host seven games inside Brooks Stadium in 2020
CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse head coach Kristen Selvage announced the Chanticleers' 2020 schedule, which includes seven home matches and a road trip out west for back-to-back games versus Colorado and Denver.
The 2020 schedule includes first time meetings versus Temple, Colorado, Denver, Columbia, and new ASUN member Akron, as well as conference contests versus Howard, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Kent State, Liberty, and Stetson.
"The 2020 schedule debuts some of Coastal lacrosse's finest competition to date. The level of competition is fierce and exactly what this tenacious squad is ready to face," stated coach Selvage. "We are resilient and ready to take on the challenge of playing a lot of road games. These Chanticleers are eager to scrap for each win and we can't wait to see how we grow game-by-game."
The Chanticleers open the season with five-straight road games beginning at on Feb. 8 at Old Dominion, who Coastal has defeated in each of the last two seasons including a 19-10 win at home last year.
The season-opening road trip will continue with non-conference matchups at Campbell on Feb. 12 and Temple on Feb. 22. The Chants are 6-1 all-time versus the Fighting Camels and will be taking on the Owls for the first time in program history.
Spring Break will include back-to-back road games out west in Colorado, as the Chants will take on both Colorado (March 8) and Denver (March 11) on the road to wrap up their longest road trip of the season.
CCU will then host back-to-back home games versus Niagara (March 15) and Columbia (March 17) at Brooks Stadium, before returning to the road at William & Mary on March 21. The Chants are 1-0 all-time versus Niagara with a 13-8 win over the Purple Eagles back in 2016 and are 1-1 versus William & Mary with a 12-11 overtime win in Conway last season.
Coach Selvage's squad will open up ASUN play with a road game at Kennesaw State (March 27) and then step out of conference play at Mercer (March 29) two days later, both of which the Chanticleers defeated at home last season.
Coastal then returns home for a five-game homestand beginning with Delaware on April 2. The Chants upended the Blue Hens 14-10 last season in Newark, Del.
The homestand will continue with conference matches versus Liberty (April 5), Jacksonville (April 10), Stetson (April 12) and Howard (April 17) over a two-week period, before wrapping up the regular season with ASUN road bouts at Kent State (April 24) and Akron (April 26).
The Chants went 0-2 last year versus the Liberty Flames, including a loss in the 2019 ASUN Championship Tournament, and suffered a 15-11 loss on the road at Jacksonville. However, CCU posted wins over both Stetson (18-11) and Howard (26-2) last season.
The 2020 ASUN Championship Tournament is scheduled for April 29-30, May 2, and will be hosted by Kennesaw State in Kennesaw, Ga. The top six teams in the regular-season standings qualify for the conference championship event.
