Chants Chatter
  • The Chanticleers will hit the road for the first time this season with Tuesday evening's contest at UNC Wilmington. The road bout at UNCW is one of only two road games for Coastal in the month of February. Tuesday's tilt will also mark the first midweek game for the Chanticleers this season.

  • Coastal Carolina and UNC Wilmington will play two times this season. On top of Tuesday's meeting at Brooks Field in Wilmington, the Chanticleers will host the Seahawks on Wednesday, March 27 at Springs Brooks Stadium in another non-conference midweek tilt.

  • Coastal Carolina is 60-33 all-time versus the UNC Wilmington Seahawks. While UNCW won the last meeting between the two teams last season - 2-1 in 13 innings on April 18, 2018 - the Chants have won seven of the last 10 contests between the two teams. The two teams have played each other at least once every year since 1989 minus the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

  • Both the Chants and the Seahawks are going for their fourth-straight win on Tuesday. Coastal is 3-0 on the season having posted wins over VCU (10-8), Maryland (7-2) and Campbell (11-2) over Opening Weekend at the Brittain Resorts Invitational. After falling in the season opener to Saint Joseph's 4-2, UNCW posted three-straight wins over VMI (5-2), Saint Joseph's (10-8) and VMI (5-3) again to start the season at 3-1.

  • The Chanticleers are off to a 3-0 start for the second-straight season. Coastal started last year 3-0 before falling to No. 17 Indiana 6-5 in their fourth game of the year. CCU last started a season 4-0 back in 2008 with back-to-back wins over Maryland and Virginia Tech in the IMIChotels INN-vitational.

  • Tuesday night's contest at UNC Wilmington is the road opener for the Chants in 2019. Coastal has won each of its last two road openers with a 13-0 win at the College of Charleston (Feb. 21) in its first road last season and a 4-1 victory at UNC Wilmington (March 1) to start its road slate back in 2017.

  • Coastal had a number of players record their Chant career firsts on Opening Weekend.
    • Senior Mike Koenig blasted his first career home run as a Chant in the win over Campbell on Sunday (Feb. 17).
    • Junior college transfers Morgan Hyde, Jared Johnson and Scott McKeon all picked up their first career hits as members of the Coastal baseball team on the weekend, while Hyde also recorded his first career RBI as a Chant versus Campbell.
    • Freshman catcher Bradley Riopelle registered his first career hit and RBI in the win over Maryland (Feb. 16).
    • Freshman hurler Garrett McDaniels threw 4.0-scoreless innings and struck out three in his first career start on the mound versus Campbell.
    • First-year Chant Alaska Abney registered his first career save in the win over VCU on Opening Day (Feb. 15).

  • Senior Zach Biermann drove in a total of five RBIs in Coastal's three games over Opening Weekend to lead the Chanticleers offensively. Biermann is one of six Chants to record multiple RBIs already this season.

  • Seven different pitchers posted an ERA of 0.00 over the Chanticleers three-game Opening Weekend. Starters Anthony Veneziano (5.0 IP) and Garrett McDaniels (4.0 IP) did not allow a run in either one of their starts last weekend, while Austin Kitchen (3.0 IP), Alaska Abney (1.1 IP), Trevor Damron (1.1 IP), Scott Kobos (1.0 IP) and Bobby Holmes (1.0 IP) did not allow an earned run in their appearances out of the bullpen.

On Deck
  • Following Tuesday night's clash with the Seahawks, the Chanticleers will return home to host the annual Brittain Resorts Baseball at the Beach event from Feb. 22-24. CCU will host Michigan State for a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 22, before taking on Kent State on Saturday, Feb. 23. The Chanticleers will wrap up the three-day event with a contest versus the nationally-ranked NC State Wolfpack on Sunday, Feb. 24.
